Music at UUCS
We believe in the power of music and its ability to nurture, uplift, and transform during our worship services. Teenagers and above are invited to participate in the choir, which is active during the school year. Rehearsals are held most Sunday mornings and one Wednesday evening each month. The ability to read music is helpful but not a requirement. One need not audition to sing to be part of the UUCS Music Ministry. A commitment to attend rehearsals and sing in tune is all that’s required. The choir usually offers music during two services each month.
Talented instrumentalists from within the congregation often provide special music for our services. We attempt to offer music programming which is varied and speaks to us both as a faith community and individually.
Several times throughout the year our children are also offered the opportunity to sing during one of our services. Convenient rehearsal times are arranged prior to the performance.
Visiting musicians from the local community and region are invited to present music selections on an ongoing basis. High school and college choirs, as well as group ensembles and soloists are featured.
Other opportunities related to UUCS music include the monthly Expresso Yourself Coffeehouse, an enthusiastic group of performers who meet regularly to make music. (The Coffeehouse also features readings and other offerings.)
Our Music Director, Keith Plumley, is very interested in speaking with anyone who feels they would enjoy being involved with the music at UUCS.You are invited to speak with him before or after a service.
