As a congregation, we have embarked on a journey together, a journey both into the future and cycling round and round — a journey meant to include us all.
For four years, our Long Range Planning Team, the Committee of Ministry, and our Board discussed a way to engage our whole congregation in a visioning process. The purpose of this is to democratically discuss with one another who we want to be as a congregation and what our shared purpose is.
In this process, our different perspectives are an asset. Every one of us has wisdom to share. We want you to take part.
The process we have developed will create a five-year cycle of discussion, discernment, planning, implementation, and then beginning again. Our goal is to create a culture of open conversation to enable us to work together even when we disagree, and to purposefully and repeatedly invite everyone into our shared thinking and planning — old and new; young and old; member, friend, visitor; everyone, all of us.
The process looks like this:
Mission, Vision Covenant (MVC) Process Timeline
Year 1: Discuss and define our Mission, Vision and Covenant as a congregation
Year 2: Create our Mission Objectives and develop a strategy and budget for their implementation
Year 3: Carry out our Mission Objectives
Year 4: Revise our Mission Objectives
Year 5: Carry out our revised Mission Objectives and prepare to repeat the cycle
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Long Range Planning Team (LRP@uucs.org).
There is so much we can create together, for ourselves and for our world.
