Two Amazing Sermons on Islam

Modified on: August 9, 2018

This Sunday, August 12 and Sunday, August 26, we will host two remarkable speakers for our Sunday services.

This Sunday, August 12, Ibrahim Hanif will share with us on “The Roots of Islamic Meditation”. A scholar and teacher of Islam in the Spartanburg community for many decades, Hanif is a person of remarkable insight and sincerity. He is also a man of profound peace. His presence and his words intertwine to create a powerful experience every time I listen to him.

And on Sunday, August 26, Dr. Dave Damrel, Associate Professor of Religion at USC-Upstate and a specialist on Sufism, will speak with us about “Radical Love in Islamic Mysticism.” Damrel is a two-time recipient of a Fullbright scholarship, studying and teaching world religions in Indonesia, the most populous Muslim nation in the world.

At this moment in our history, at this moment in our society, the messages of these two speakers are vitally important. But far more, who they are and what they speak will touch us as a congregation and as individuals. Please come to hear both of these profound voices for peace.

As-salamu alaykum,
