October Share the Plate
Share The Plate: October is National Domestic Violence month, and we are sharing the plate with Project R.E.S.T. (aka Safe Homes), which has assisted victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Spartanburg County for many years. Their retail store is a great place to donate your lightly-used clothing and household goods, and they can even send a truck to pick up larger items (236 Union St., 864-583-9803). Janice Tuck is their volunteer coordinator, and Betty Koester is a longtime volunteer there. Next month, we’ll be contributing to an NPO assisting in Puerto Rico’s recovery from Hurricane Fiona. You can donate at church or here on the church website.
Share the Plate enables us to act together, as a community, to support local and global social justice causes, and to aid those hurt by disasters. Two Sundays each month, half of our church offerings and all of STP designated offerings and checks go to a cause or organization dear to our hearts.
