From Your President – October 2020
Modified on: September 30, 2020
Welcome to October!
If you need a Flu Shot, you can sign up for one on October 6th. Dr. Mel and Nurse Betty have set this up for the congregation. https://uucs.org/flu-vaccine-clinics/
Once a quarter, we will gather as a congregation to do the work of consciousness through workshops and dialogues on becoming an anti-racist, anti-oppression, multicultural congregation. From this commitment to consciousness, four teams will work on four projects in the areas of Immigration, Voting, Ecology, and Being a Neighbor. The first one will be Sunday, October 4th from 12:15-1:45 pm. Please check the Happenings for the Zoom link to join in the discussion.
After more than 10 years and 300 services, Keith Plumley has decided it is time to step down as Director of Music. His last day will be October 30. Over the years he has created a wonderful music experience for us all. Keep an eye out for information on how we will celebrate Keith’s retirement at UUCS.
Fred Stoll has been working non-stop on the kitchen in Wilde Hall. Appliance’s will be delivered this week and we hope to have the work finished up by the end of the month. The cabinets will be finished up a little later.
The deadline to register online to vote in the election is Sunday, October 4, 2020, or in person, Friday, Oct. 2nd.
October 5th is the start date for In-Person Absentee Voting. Everyone may vote early in this year’s general election at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium in the lower level from 8:30-5:00.
As we move into October, wear your masks everywhere, keep your family and friends safe, and practice social distancing. Don’t hesitate to call on any board member if you need anything. At some point, we will be able to come back together. I want to see every one of you there.
