From Your President – January 2020

Modified on: January 24, 2020

I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Christmas holiday, and that you are getting ready for 2020! Ruth and I will be starting the New Year off with our son, Mark, in San Francisco. Mark grew up at UUCS and soon will be moving to New York City. While it won’t save him much money on his rent; he will however be in our same time zone making calling much easier. We hope that this move will be a happy one for him.

January will be another busy month at UUCS. Put on your calendar, Saturday, January 12 for our New Beginnings Potluck. Many thanks to Pam Stoll and our Hospitality Committee for putting on this great event. Very soon you will receive a letter and a brochure about our Sunday, January 26 Generosity of Giving Annual Pledge Kick-off. Each year around February we hold our pledge drive so that we can project what our income and expenditures for 2020-2021 will be. We hope that you can attend this fun and important event right after our Sunday Worship Service in Wilde Hall.

Save the weekend of May 29-30 and 31 for a great weekend at The Mountain Retreat & Learning Center a UU retreat in Highland, NC about a two hour drive from Spartanburg. Scott, Sybil and Anne have been working on the camp program details which I feel that you will find fun and enjoyable. Come up for the whole weekend or just for the day. We hope that you can attend our first UUCS The Mountain Retreat. You can register online.

Wishing you a prosperous New Year!

Love and Peace

Rick Hahnenberg, President
UUCS Board of Trustees
