We are so glad you are here at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spartanburg! We offer many opportunities for children (Preschoolers to 5th grade) and youth (6th grade to 12th grade) to be a part of our community. Sunday morning classes for children and youth are offered at 10am. Please see the calendar of events to help you navigate these. Our classes consist of lighting of the chalice, checking in with the students, a lesson, closing circle, and creative free play either on the playground or in the classroom. Nursery is provided for our youngest friends. Our goal is for students to build relationships with each other and with the caring adults who lead their classes. Therefore we ask all toys, games, and cellphones be left at home or out of sight and not to be used while in class.
Our classes are led by volunteers from the congregation, overseen by the Director of Religious Education and the Enrichment Committees. We abide by strict protection policies for the protection and care for all children and youth. All of our volunteers and nursery workers have completed a background check, signed a Code of Ethics, and attend training. We also have a safety monitor walking the halls and grounds on Sunday mornings in the case of an emergency. You can rest assured your children and youth are in good hands when here.

Child and Youth Protection Policy
At UUCS, the care and nurturing of our children and youth is of the utmost importance. We have developed, in collaboration with the Religious Education Committee and the Board of Directors, a strong safety policy that helps to ensure the protection of all of our children and youth, whether member, friend, or visitor. The full policy can be viewed here.
