Being a caring community is an important part of our mission. Our church mission, the principles and practices of the UUA, and our congregational behavioral covenant encourage us to be the best people we can be. We strive to practice caring community qualities within our congregation so that we may bring these qualities and ways of being out into the larger world.
Pastoral Care Associates
Lay Pastoral Associates are trained individuals who work as a team to provide presence and listening as an extension of our ministers. The work that PCAs do involves visits to families experiencing serious illness or bereavement, ministry to Members and Friends who are shut-ins or in nursing homes, and assistance to others negotiating various crises of life. During times of loss and stressful events that accompany life transitions, a listening ear can help.
Occasional meals are offered to Members and Friends during stressful times (through a program called Meal Train) and rides to Sunday services and medical appointments can often be arranged and provided by congregational volunteers.
To contact Pastoral Care Associates, email JandC@uucs.org.
Joys and Concerns — Cards are available in the chair pockets in the Sanctuary to denote individual joys and concerns. These cards can be placed in the offering plate during the service or in the box in the back of the Sanctuary.
Memorial Service and Receptions – Our ministers are available to help plan and conduct memorial services on behalf of Members and Friends. UUCS volunteers can coordinate and serve a reception following a memorial service for your loved one.
