A Banquet for a Better World

Modified on: October 4, 2018

I remember reading that, if not for gatherings of intellectuals in pubs and coffeehouses in England, the American Revolution would not have taken place. The same for the French Revolution—without people eating and drinking and arguing ideas in the salons of Paris, the declaration of human rights would not have shaped our modern world.

When the injustices of the world weigh on us, it is good to eat, and drink, and think together.

Won’t you join your fellow intellectuals at the church picnic this Sunday?

It is a good time to eat good food, to talk with friends, to imagine what the world can better be.
